Technology Second Opinion

Facing an important technology decision and want someone independent to look at it before you commit? A Technology Second Opinion gives you an experienced perspective from someone who is on your side of the table.

I can review the proposal, recommendation, project, or technology choice, ask the questions that may not have been asked, identify risks or assumptions, and help you understand whether the path being recommended makes sense for your business.

When a Second Opinion Can Help

There are times when the technology itself is not the biggest problem. The bigger issue is uncertainty about whether the recommendation, vendor, project, or direction is the right one.

  • You received a proposal and want an independent review before signing
  • Two vendors are recommending different approaches
  • A project is off track and you want help understanding why
  • You are unsure whether the cost or scope is reasonable
  • You want to know what questions should be asked before moving forward
  • You are considering AI or automation but are unsure whether the proposed use case makes sense
  • You simply want reassurance that the current recommendation is the right path

What You Get

A Technology Second Opinion is not a long consulting engagement. The goal is to give you clarity quickly enough to make the decision in front of you.

  • Review of the proposal, recommendation, or project information you provide
  • Identification of major risks, assumptions, and unanswered questions
  • Independent feedback on whether the approach appears reasonable
  • Questions you should ask the vendor or internal team
  • A clear explanation of the tradeoffs and likely next steps
  • A conversation focused on helping you feel confident about the decision

How It Works

  1. Send me the material
Share the proposal, recommendation, project information, or background you want reviewed
  2. I review it independently
I look at the recommendation, assumptions, risks, tradeoffs, and questions that may need to be asked
  3. We talk it through
We discuss what I found, what appears reasonable, what concerns me, and what I think you should clarify
  4. You decide with more confidence
You leave with a clearer understanding of the options and the questions to ask before moving forward

What the Engagement Looks Like

Engagements are typically focused and time-boxed. We start with a short conversation to understand the decision in front of you, determine whether a Technology Second Opinion is the right fit, and identify what information would be useful to review.

What I Am Not

I am not an MSP, reseller, software vendor, or commissioned salesperson. I do not need you to buy anything from me beyond the advisory work itself.

That independence is the point. My job is to help you decide whether the recommendation in front of you makes sense, including when the right answer is that your current vendor is right and you should move forward.

Want a Second Opinion?

If you have a proposal, recommendation, project, or technology decision you want reviewed, send me the details and I will let you know whether I think a Technology Second Opinion would be useful.
