About Patrick
I’m Patrick Grote, and I have spent my career helping businesses make technology work in the real world.
I started on the technical side, moved into systems and network management, then into project leadership, vendor management, software development, and executive technology responsibility. Over time, I became the person people looked to not just to understand the technology, but to decide what made sense for the business.
How I Work
I start with the business problem, not the technology. The goal is to understand what you are trying to accomplish, what constraints matter, and what risks need to be considered before deciding on a path.
I am comfortable getting into the technical details when needed, but the value I provide is in connecting those details back to the business decision: what makes sense, what does not, what questions still need answers, and what should happen next.
Experience That Spans the Whole Decision
My background covers more than one side of technology. I have worked in software development, systems and network management, infrastructure, project leadership, vendor management, business continuity, and executive technology responsibility.
That range matters because technology decisions rarely stay in one lane. A vendor recommendation can affect operations. A systems change can affect users and business processes. A project problem can be technical, organizational, or both. I am used to looking across those boundaries and helping determine what the real issue is.
Independent by Design
I am not tied to a hardware vendor, software company, managed service provider, or particular platform. I do not earn more because you buy one solution instead of another.
That independence lets me focus on the question that matters most: what is the right decision for your business?
A Career Built Around Making Technology Work
I have worked with organizations ranging from smaller businesses to large enterprises, across technical support, systems engineering, software development, infrastructure, project management, and technology leadership.
After Stuart Maue was acquired by Mitratech, I remained through the transition, helping maintain continuity while systems, responsibilities, and operations were migrated, consolidated, or phased out. When that chapter ended, I chose to take the kind of technology decision-making work I had been doing throughout my career and offer it independently.
The common thread has always been the same: understand the problem, make the technology practical, and help the organization move forward with less uncertainty.
Let’s Talk
If you are facing a technology decision, evaluating a vendor recommendation, or simply want an independent perspective on the path forward, I would be glad to talk it through.
